There are many ways to serve at Providence Presbyterian Church.  We have listed the various areas you may volunteer at Providence.  Some of the sign ups are specific to certain groups and others are open to the congregation.  What are your spiritual gifts and how might you use them?  Maybe our list will encourage you to SIGN UP!  Also, if your church group has a sign up genius that is not listed, contact the church office with your sign up genius link and we will add it to our list.

  • Childcare Ministry

Thank you for helping with the childcare ministry at PPC! Please plan to arrive at the start of your time slot so that you will be in place at the time families arrive for Sunday School/Worship. If you have any questions or concerns, or if a last minute emergency arises that prevents you from volunteering for a selected slot, please reach out to Brooks Herman (704) 995-6117 or Courtney Ritchie (704) 460-8384. We really appreciate your help with this important and fun ministry. Sign-up by clicking here.

  • Deacon Duty on Sunday

  • Four active Deacons serve as ushers each Sunday.  If you are an active Deacon, you are asked to pick two months to act as usher.

  • Gleaning Garden

The Gleaning Garden is ready for tending, watering, weeding, harvesting and delivering the produce to food pantries. Please sign up for any days you can help. If this is your first time helping in the garden or if you have any questions about what to do on a given day, please feel free to contact Daisy.

  • Greeters

Greeting is quick and simple: Set up and stand next to the welcome flag along the sidewalk in front of the fellowship hall fifteen minutes before the service begins. The flag, stand, and welcome brochures for visitors are all stored in the fellowship hall closet (1st closet on the right when you enter the front doors). Don’t forget to wear your name tag! Sign-up by clicking here.

  • Liturgy Readers

Thank you for participating in the Sunday worship service as a liturgist. We have had more than a hundred lay members act as liturgists over the past year and have received much positive response from our congregation.

  • Meals and Visits

Several members of our community are in need of meals whether they be in recovery or ill. Please consider helping provide a meal and a visit.

  • Moment for Children 2023

Thanks so much for being willing to provide the Moment for Children for the youngest members of PPC! Please sign up here for at least one Sunday and ideally for both services that Sunday.  If you’re only available for one service on a Sunday, that’s okay too.  After you’ve signed up, you’ll receive a reminder from Sign-Up Genius the Monday before your Sunday.  To find the lectionary readings for your Sunday, visit the PC(USA) lectionary website and click on the corresponding date on the calendar for Sunday/Festival readings. To find suggestions for how to talk about the Bible passages for your Sunday in ways that children will understand, visit the Worshiping With Children website and click on the corresponding date.

  • Recycling

  • Please consider signing up to remove our recyclables so that we may continue to be good stewards of God’s creation.  Our recycling efforts help us to maintain our Earth Care Congregation Certification. You can find our sign-up here.
