Prayers of the People and the Lord Prayers
Sisters and brothers, let us lift our hearts in faith to the One who hears all prayers and holds close all those in need.
God of every land and nation, today we join our prayers to your concern for a world ruptured by injustices and festering with hostilities. Grant wisdom and compassion to the leaders of all nations.
Where violence reigns, bring your peace. Where the strong devour the weak, bring your justice. Where despair has taken root, bring hope. Where daily needs go unmet, bring generosity.
Where the homeless must make do, bring refuge and a roof. Where children suffer abuse, bring safety and love. Where the lost search for direction, bring guidance and light. Where hearts are broken, bring tenderness and mending.
Where the church gathers, bring all to hear and sing and pray. Where the church scatters, bring Spirit, call, and service. Where your church cares, bring attentiveness, compassion, healing. Where your church speaks, bring the truth spoken in love. Where your church gives, bring generosity, joy, and heart.
And where we pray, O God, bring your abiding presence to deepen our trust and guide us on your way.
Hear us now as we join to say:
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.”
