Prayers of the people (Walt McCanless)

Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and unite us with the living Christ, and with all who call upon your name., that we may be one in ministry in every place.

Help us, O God, to be obedient to your call to love all your children, to do justice and show mercy, and to live in peace with your whole creation.

Guide us through the desert of life, quench our thirst with the living water, satisfy our hunger with the bread of heaven. Give us strength to serve you faithfully and compassion we might pass on to all.

Bless those among us who grieve, O God,                                                                                                              and who are in pain,                                                                                                                                                those who face difficulties and obstacles,                                                                                                              and those who suffer through hardship or disease…..                                                                                                may your sufficient grace fill them and may your everlasting arms support them.

Lord, your wisdom and guidance are needed in the high places of the land. Give vision to the leaders of the nations that they may pursue the paths that make for peace. Through the various aid agencies, churches, and governmental assistance, provide for the surge of refugees and displaced peoples. Let compassion be the guiding light as we seek to ease their plight. We pray an end to the violence and abuse so prevalent in our world today.  Do not let anger, hatred and fear hold sway over our hearts and minds nor in our life together. As your church, Lord, may we live the love you give to us in your Son, Jesus; who taught us to pray…..

“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.”
