Prayers of the People-Joanna Hipp
In the stillness the Creator spoke,
And the world began to turn.
In the darkness, the Creator brought forth light.
In the nothingness, the no-thing became everything.
Life from death,
Bodies from dust.
You, O God, are still creating in our lives.
As you continue to guide us in the darkness,
Throughout the journey to Easter,
We pray that you surround us.
We pray that you accompany us on this journey
So we know that we are not alone.
Help us to not be arrogant or bragging of our Lenten accomplishments.
Help cleanse us in repentance, and remind us of the Light that only you can bring.
As we remember our mortality, help us to be present with all the people in our lives who need you most, who have questions we cannot answer. Help inspire and guide us to tomorrow.
We give you thanks, O God of Life, for bringing forth creation into being. We give you thanks, O God, for reminding us who we are, and who we are called to be. May we not forget who we serve. We give you thanks, Great Counselor, Wounded Healer, and Transforming Teacher, in that you keep on teaching us. You keep on inspiring us, and you continue to heal us. May we be reminded of this throughout this season we are now on, and we give you thanks for teaching us the prayer Christ taught us to pray saying…
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, Amen.
