Prayers of the People
God of mercy and grace,
Your son, Jesus Christ, calls us to follow him in the world. We pray for the people of Haiti, Puerto Rico, and places across the United States still facing devastation. Help us to remember that we are all your beloved children.
God, you are love. Your love extends to all of life.
All knowing, God, awaken our hearts; help us to hear again, to truly listen, and to follow your call for us. Guide our path as we seek truth, honor and justice in the world. Grant us, and leaders of this world, wisdom and selflessness to choose the well-being of us all, over temporal power.
We pray especially for those who are on our own hearts and minds. Strengthen those who suffer, and give them grace, care and love. Be with all of those on our own hearts and minds here today.
We pray for all persons in danger and need. We pray for the sick and the suffering, those who have experienced loss and pain, the hungry, those who face displacement and are without a home.
You are the great God of us all, and continue to renew the Spirit within us. Guide us to be your disciples in this world, caring for your creation, including our sisters, brothers, and siblings in Christ.
Hear the prayers of your people, and keep us ready to serve as the prophets of your kingdom.
It is through our prayers, united together, that we say the prayer Christ taught us to pray…saying: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
