 3rd Sunday after Epiphany

Isaiah 9:1-4; Psalm 27:1,4-9; 1 Corinthian 1:10-18; Matthew 4:12-23

Great God of us all,

When we need you most, you breathe hope into us all. When we find ourselves in times of trouble, in times of personal loss, in times of sickness, in times of loved ones traveling, in times of service, in times of diagnoses we never imagined, in times of violence, you come to us…You speak words of wisdom to us. You remind us who we call in our hour of need.

In our hours of darkness, when we mourn and our hearts are forelorn, for tears stream down and we need you to come down, you remind us to let it be.

God it is by your spirit and grace that we may all face the hardships in our lives.

Whisper words of wisdom.

When all the brokenhearted people in the world agree, there will be an answer…

For  those who are the pure in heart,

For they take part

In making  a difference by promoting reconciliation and peace.

That we walk in the light,

That we be your sight

For a world that cares for all.

And though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see…there will be an answer…

We pray for those who hunger and thirst

Who put righteousness first.

They are hungry to meet people’s need

Without falling to greed.

They follow your will

Hoping you will fill

Our cups of love and grace

No matter what we face

For when we cry

You are our ally.

You shed tears with us,

And feed us

Body and soul to make us whole.

Whisper words of wisdom, O God of grace and God of glory. And though t he night is cloudy God there is still a light that shines on us…

We pray for those  are the meek

Who do not strive for violence others seek.

They do not strive for material wealth,

But for what benefits the commonwealth.

We pray for the peacemakers

For they are the takers

Of reconciliation and peace.

They work in conflict and strife,

Protecting even wildlife.

They speak the Gospel to the world

With their hands and their feet

They will not take a backseat

When people are living on the street.

They proclaim Your  vision

In the gaps of division.

When we see corruption

We remember without assumption

The truth we must proclaim

So that all lives are not in vain.

So singing let it be because God continues speaking words of wisdom…

Therefore, we shall rejoice when we hear God’s voice. For we are not called by earthly leaders, but God who is our believer.

So blessed are your people , who hears the call, not to stay small, but go where the Spirit leads,

That we all may feed, those who need us most.

For it is the Holy Ghost,

Who leads us to those who are poor in status, who do not know how to climb the wealth and power lattice,

That justice may roll down, and your Love, O God, please be found,

With our hands and feet and everyone we meet.

You turn our fists of anger and hate,

To open hands of love for all in our state.

May our feet be our prayer

Of where we go, and who we know

To show the truth you call us to be.

May you shine until tomorrow, O God our vision and our light as we pray the prayer Christ taught us to pray by saying…

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom

and the power and the glory, forever.  Amen.
