What type of church is this?
Providence Presbyterian is a Christian church affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are committed to affirming the dignity and humanity of every person and strive to create a welcoming environment for all God’s children.
What is worship like?
We worship at 10:00am during the summer months and 9:00am and 11:15am from September – May. However, you may also worship with us online.
Worship is just that – a reformed protestant service featuring hymns, prayer, scripture reading, and a sermon. Bible scripture verses are read aloud, some folks choose follow along in the bibles in the pews, others experience the word of God best by listening. Hymns are sung out of the blue hymnbooks available in each pew. The specific songs are listed in the bulletin you’ll be handed on the way in. This service lasts for about 45-minutes.
Visitors won’t be singled out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way. There’s no altar call. Our pastors and church leaders are available at the doors after services to greet visitors and answer any questions you may have.
What about my kids?
Childcare is available every Sunday. For more information click here.
What should I wear?
Wear what you feel comfortable in! Sunday worship tends to see folks a little more dressed up. Some wear suits while others have open collars and no tie. We hope you’ll feel comfortable however you arrive.
What kind of work do you do?
Discipleship:
Through a lifelong approach to faith formation, we grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. In our weekday preschool, children and youth ministries, Sunday school classes, youth group, Bible studies, women’s circles, book clubs and more, we learn to love God and our neighbors.
Outreach:
We are committed to uplifting our shared community through partnerships with non-profit organizations and agencies. We engage our community through service and discipleship opportunities as well as direct financial support.
Our partnership in Chimbote’ Peru, allow us to respond to Jesus’ invitation to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves in a global context. We work hard to develop long-term relationships with integrity. Global partners lead the way and prioritize goals and projects.
Caring:
We are united both in our need for care and the desire to care for one another. We look to Christ as the model of compassion and as our guide in the work of the Christian faith. Some of the many ways we can walk alongside you during life’s trials include praying for and with you; providing an advocate for a health crisis or chronic illness; and offering confidential care through our Stephen Ministry, pastoral staff and care team.
