Thanksgiving Food Boxes

With the ongoing pandemic, so many in our community need our help in order to have a Thanksgiving meal. It is our hope that you will consider partnering with us this year to meet that need. Please be assured that we will continue to follow all safety protocols with regards to COVID.

What’s listed below is going to seem like a lot of information!  However, we have learned over the years that the specifics are necessary for us to manage a successful event.

Please follow these instructions!  The items that you see bolded or underlined are important towards helping us manage the large number of boxes we collect.

A Food Box should look like and contain the following (photo attached):

Please use this box ONLY

  • This new, very specific box is necessary to help us with the logistics of stacking, transporting, and distribution. It also shows dignity and respect to those we serve.
  • It’s referred to as a “Small Packing Box” – approximate dimensions, 16-3/8” x 12-5/8” x 12-5/8” or “1.5 cubic feet (size may vary slightly) with side handles for easy lifting.
  • It can be purchased at any U-Haul (or other moving center), Lowes, or Home Depot, and Walmart.
  • It cost approximately 99 cents.  Walmart’s cost is 74 cents.

If you cannot find the exact ounces indicated, get as close as possible.

  10. Round Disposable Baking Pan     1 – disposable (aluminum). It can also be square.
  11. Frozen Turkey (if possible)          12 – 15 pounds IMPORTANT – Do NOT put a turkey in your food box! By distribution day, the turkey will thaw, spoil, and ruin the contents of that box plus all the surrounding boxes.

You may include extra items if they are non-perishable (i.e., no fresh produce or refrigerated items), and no items with soft lids such as applesauce, pudding, jello, etc. Also, do not include cash or gift cards.

After filling the box, close and secure the top with tape, leaving the side handles free
