Providence Presbyterian Church
Tim Lipka lived with an intense desire to fulfill Luke 12:48. Entrusted with loving parents, a great brother, an upbringing in the faith, and a deep desire to make the world a better place, Tim sought to balance the scale through loving service.
Born on October 24, 1986 in Mt. Pleasant, SC, Tim was a proud South Carolinian. He loved the ocean, dogs, music, and politics. Dave and Janice Lipka moved their family to Charlotte in 1998. They wasted little time in making Providence Presbyterian their church home and their two sons, Tim and Eric, were confirmed, involved, and in regular attendance.
Tim graduated from Providence Senior High School, attended Central Piedmont Community College, and graduated from NC State University with a degree in political science. After graduation, Tim moved to Washington DC where he applied Luke 12:48 to his everyday life. He joined Georgetown Presbyterian Church, worked for an inner city middle school, volunteered for a city councilman, and enrolled in the University of Southern California’s online Master’s Degree Program. It was Tim’s joy to give the much required, and even more.
But, in July 2012, Tim died suddenly and quite unexpectedly. It was a terrible shock, followed by grief and much sadness. However, through it all, one thought ran deep: Tim’s was a life well lived. Much was given to him, and he gave with a similar measure.
In keeping with Tim’s character of service and generosity, we dedicate the PPC annual golf tournament to his memory. Tim will be remembered in The Tim Lipka Memorial Golf Tournament sponsored by Providence Presbyterian Church for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity.
