PPC has been re-certified as an Earth Care congregation for 2016; this is our fifth year. We were pleased to receive a bee and insect house from the Charlotte Presbytery.
“A bee and insect house supports the natural habitat of these useful creatures in your garden. Wild bees use the “house” as a nesting place in the spring and summer, and as a refuge in the autumn and winter. The bees pollinate the blossom of fruit and vegetable plants in the surrounding area and thus make an important contribution towards a more successful harvest.”
The house has been installed in the woods near the gleaning garden. The Green Team is also planting and tending flower gardens, including butterfly weeds to nourish monarch butterflies.
