11:15 am Prayers of the People by Anne Wood

Dear Lord,  We thank you for the powerful promise that you gave us in sending your Son to be in our midst.  You alone can make our uneven paths straight and raise our hopes.   Turn our hearts to you and keep us steadfast in our faith even when we our doubts and longings would make us falter.

Be with those who suffer from illness, disease, fear and loneliness. Show us how to help to those who are in distress.  Give healing and comfort to those who need it.

When the world seems to be falling apart from war and terror, from distrust and  in- justice, from poverty and strife,  gather us to you and turn our hearts  so that we gladly follow you.

Your Word reveals to us your love and promise that we can be your kingdom on earth right now. Open us to your enduring message and help us to take to heart the words that your son Jesus taught us…Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.
