Dress up yourselves and your trunks for Providence Trunk or Treat!
Church members who wish to register for a trunk space, please click here!

PPC Trunk or Treat Trunk Guidelines (Our neighbors are invited to enjoy the trunk or treat decorations and treats but registering for trunk participation is for church members only!

What is it?

It’s a free, fun, safe, community-oriented alternative or addition to “trick or treating”. Volunteers park their vehicles in the church parking lot and hand out candy or trinkets to the children. Providence is a nut-safe campus (All candy must be nut free. This means that there can be no peanut or tree nut in the candy and that it has to come from a nut free facility. Please call or email me if unsure. These links have a list of some allergy safe treats: http://www.peanutallergy.com/lifestyle/peanut-allergy/list-of-nut-free-candies-for-halloween  & http://www.allergysf.com/safety/candy/nuts/)

What do I do?

That’s up to you! We encourage families to be creative. You can simply hand out candy, or you can decorate your vehicle and participate in the trunk decoration contest. If you are unsure about how to decorate your trunk, there are some great ideas online. Google or search Pinterest for Trunk or Treat. If you would like to participate but need help with decorating please contact us and we can join you with a youth that would be happy to assist.

When do I need to arrive?

The trunk or treating is from 4-6 pm, October 28th. To ensure that  all vehicles are parked and set up before the children arrive, please plan on being there by 3:30 pm.

Steps to make Trunk or Treat a success

  1. Please make sure that you have signed up using the Sign Up Genius link.
  2. Rain or Shine- you may use a pop-up awning if it fits in your allotted space.
  3. May want to bring camping chairs to use while giving out treats.
  4. No open flames (including candles). Please use battery operated lights.
  5. For safety reasons, trunks will not be permitted to set-up after 4 pm.
  6. We will begin to shut things down at 6 pm. You will not be able to leave prior to shut down. We will have the area fenced off, so there will be no exceptions to this.
  7. Pre-wrapped candy & treats only. We can not give out homemade items.
  8. Trunk owners must remain with their trunk throughout the entire event, or find someone to watch their trunk while they are gone.
  9. Keep decorations to a minimum on the scarey meter. No blood or guts, violent images that would cause  kids to have bad dreams. This is an event for families and we want the kids, no matter how young, to have a great time.
  10. There will be a trunk decorating contest, so decorate to win. Judging will begin at 4:30 pm.
  11. If you plan to use electricity for your trunk display, it must be self-powered. Electricity will not be provided.
  12. Trunk owners should bring their own candy or treats. We are encouraging each participant to plan for around 100 children.
  13. Please give children one to two pieces of candy. They may come through a couple of times so this will keep them from stockpiling too quickly.
  14. Please clean up your area following the close of the event. We are also asking for volunteers to help clean up the campus after the event is over. Many hands make light work!
  15. Thank you for being a part of our second trunk or treat!
